Major League Wrestling Aztec (Episode 3)
Recorded on December 3, 2021 at the Faust Gutierrez Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico.
Streaming on January 20, 2022 MLW YouTube page When FITE.TV

Emilio Sparks was waiting outside the building and approached Cesar Durand, who arrived with the three masked Henchmans. Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday confronted Durand before Sparks reached him. Hammerstone grabbed Durand’s throat, but Holiday said it was a trap and got Hammerstone so he wouldn’t hit Durand.

Durand told Hammerstone that if he became physical, he would be stripped of the MLW Championship. Hammerstone said he might not care much about the championship. Durand blamed Courtbauer for something (please subtitle) and told Hammerstone not to hurt him to protect his championship, whether he was healthy or not. Durand said it was his world and Hammerston and Holiday were just the mice that lived there …

The Aztec opening aired … Rich Bocchini and Joe Dombrowski’s broadcast team checked in a setup video showing the team in the MLW tag title match fighting before the show …

1. MLW tag title “5150” Slice Boogie and Rivera vs. Aero Star and Drago. Before the match, Rivera cut the heel promotion to the audience in Spanish. Boogie spoke in English, but it got hotter. Several women were seen playing the duo in the crowd. Drago made early suicide dives in Boogie and Rivera. Aerostar sent a sentry from the top rope to all three men on the floor. Cool diving.

5150 Isolated Aerostar. Boogie played the wonderful German Suplex and it’s almost autumn. Drago eventually made it to the match, but Rivera had to break up when Aerostar approached Boogie. The dragon struck a tornado DDT backed by Rivera. Boogie and Rivera returned in Drago with some double team moves and then played to the crowd for heat.

Aerostar did a cork bottle opener dive at Boogie. Rivera took out the Aero Star with a jumping kick and hit it with her knees. After Boogie lifted the Aerostar on his back, he and Rivera performed a double stomp Death Valley driver combo move, and Boogie pinned the Aerostar …

“5150” Slice Boogie and Rivera defeated Aero Star and Drago to hold the MLW tag title.

Powell’s point of view: It’s nice to see some traditional tag team games in the last two weeks, but it wasn’t Lucha style. With Von Erich and Rosparks becoming tag team champions, we didn’t get much. The 5150 can brawl with the best of them, but it’s also versatile enough to have a more traditional style match. That said, I think it’s going to be a big brawl when they defend the MLW tag title against von Erich in taping in Dallas tonight.

Last week’s show featured a highlight of Alex Kane defending his title against Aerostar. Behind the scenes, Kane was talking to Thomas when Sparks entered the room for an interview. Kane said he has a new sponsor. Kane and Thomas show off their “Crybaby Calvin” T-shirt to mock Calvin Tankman …

Powell’s point of view: The delivery of Kane’s promotion was impressive. Between his mic work and inling work, it’s easy to see why MLW is so high on him.

The broadcast team promoted Tijuana Street Fight … [C] The TV was displayed as a still image on the screen with an image of an hourglass …

Richard Holiday has been shown to take a behind-the-scenes pace and speak openly about not knowing what Vario Broll is. Alexander Hammerstone and Arica Atout tried to calm him while wondering how much coffee he needed to drink before the match. Holiday decided he needed a weapon and demanded a Hammerstone MLW championship belt. Hammerstone asked if he went crazy. One of Durand’s minions appeared to let Holiday know it was time. Hammerstone provided Holliday with some testosterone pills that he said were gifts from Tijuana Pharmacy. Holidays are gone and he says he won’t kick in for a month …

2. Toto vs. Proximo. Early in the match, Toto ran a destroyer on the ringside. After that, Proximo made an impressive sentry dive through the rope. In the end, Proximo hit the Spanish fly from the rope and put one foot on the middle rope while fixing Toto …

Proximo defeated Toto.

Powell’s point of view: There was nothing wrong with the match, but I don’t think either wrestler has ever been mentioned on MLW TV. It’s fun to see new faces, but it’s even better if the wrestlers are properly introduced.

The video package regained Davey Richards, who was attacked last week and had his opera cup trophy stolen. It was also announced that Richards would challenge Alexander Hammerstone for the MLW Championship at the Super Fight Show in Charlotte … The broadcast team hyped Jacob Fatu to break his silence … [C]

Ross Von Erich and Marshall Von Erich have checked in from Hawaii. They said the 5150 was moving their mouth, but it would be difficult to keep it going when they were on the iron claws. Marshall said they would take the title and go home (to Dallas) …

While Jacob Fatu was sitting outside, a video package was aired next to him holding a bottle of liquor and smoking a cigarette. He was the son of Tongakid and said he loved to grow, but he said he didn’t want to fight. He said he went to jail, and while he was there he watched Usos on TV with Tamina, and they went to Tyson Kidd, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Natalia. I was facing.

Fatu said he got out of jail and everything went well as far as wrestling was concerned and he attended a school run by Rixi, Gangrel and Black Pearl. Fatu became emotional while talking to him about how his wife told him he couldn’t see the children if he kept in jail. He said he didn’t really respect the business, even though he grew up unnoticed. Fatu said he saw the good, the bad, and the ugly that it did for his family and decided to give it a try …

Powell’s point of view: Great video. It was actually unpleasant to see him himself after seeing Fatu in his normal outfit and wearing his gear in the character for a long time. This felt fresh and realistic. This is a very fun shift from the Contra version of Fatu.

Next week, AAA Heavyweight Championship Elhiho Derbi Kingo vs. Aramis was announced by the Underground Fight Club …

Bocchini sent things to the city of Tijuana, much like last week’s “Underground Fight Club,” not during the day when last week’s match was recorded, but only at night. Cesar Durand stood on the catwalk and introduced the Barrio Brawl …

3. Pagano vs. Richard Holiday in the Barrio Brawl. There was no ring. The wrestler brawled on the cement floor and the referee attended. Weapons were used in style matches without DQ. There was an early commercial break. [C]

The wrestler fought near Durand. The holiday took control, grabbed the chair and walked towards Durand, but the masked Henchman referee choked the holiday from behind. The referee pushed the holiday towards Pagano, who beat him and pinned him …

Pagano defeated Richard Holiday in a Barrio brawl.

Powell’s point of view: I like the holiday being protected in that he had a clear advantage when the referee stopped chasing Durand. The brawl was overwhelming, but neither man can blame him for not causing a lot of collisions with the concrete.

The next schedule lists next week’s AAA Mega Championship match, tonight’s show in Dallas, and next month’s MLW Super Fight event in Charlotte … Admission to the main event …

4. Mad Kluger vs. Bestia 666 at Tijuana Street Fight. Kluger dominated the brawl and threw trash cans and other items into the ring. Vestia charged Kluger, who defeated him in a large trunk. Kluger attacked Vestia with a cookie sheet. Kluger picked up a cheese grater, but Besita hit him with a cookie sheet and eventually scraped his back with a grater. Kluger is back with a chalk breaker. [C]

Kluger went on a suicide dive, but Bestia hit him in a chair from the floor. Kluger got up just for Vestia to hit the chair against her back. Vestia hit him in the chair again, wrapped it around his head and ran it to the ring post. Returning to the ring, Vestia brought a grater to Kruger’s head.

Vestia aimed at Muscle Buster, but Kluger sat on the top rope and stuffed it. Kluger grabbed Besita’s throat and pulled it onto the rope. Bestia ran huracanrana and got 2 counts. Vestia set up a chair in the ring and then slammed a cookie sheet over Kruger’s head, who didn’t sell it. Bestia offered a running knee that Krugger also doesn’t sell. Kluger blocked another running knee, picked up Besita in Full Nelson’s position, and first hit his face against the chair before pinning it …

Mad Kluger defeated Bestia 666 in the Tijuana Street Fight.

The broadcast team touted the AAA Mega Championship match and announced Alexander Hammerstone vs. Octagon Junior at the MLW Heavyweight Championship next week …

Powell’s point of view: A good show to end the garbage match. Kluger plays the role of his monster well. I’m worried that Dallas taping will start broadcasting. The joint show with The Clash promotion is decent, but there are too many newcomers who don’t make any sense to viewers who don’t follow Lucha Libre closely. MLW is at its best when it’s fully focused on its talents and story, so I hope the Dallas match will air after next week’s show. My audio review of this episode will be available shortly.
