The Chicago Bulls’ new season brought many of the same issues and some new issues that were revealed in the first five games of 2020-21.
It’s often silly to start filling out an NBA team’s death certificate before the NBA team plays 10 games during the season (or before anointing championship candidates), Chicago Bulls’ With the launch of the 2020-21 campaign, much of the optimism surrounding the off-season changes in front offices and coaching staff has slightly evaporated.
They are 2-4 to start the season, but don’t let you give you the idea that the record showed similarities in competitive enthusiasm. Currently, only the other three teams have a worse net rating than the Bulls, which is two ranks lower in Basketball-Reference’s Simple Rating System (SRS). This is the team record, point difference, and schedule strength.
If Chicago didn’t have two games against the Washington Wizards, they know how bad the discourse around them would be.
Of course, not everything is bad. There are still some reasons for hope for this team. That doesn’t mean they have to expect to be a solid playoff team, but it also shows that this year isn’t the cause of the loss, especially with a lot of basketball left.
