How can I increase my confidence and improve this ability? And how do you do it?

  • Make a commitment and move on.
  • Do it in small parts first. For example, if you want to be a more capable speaker, don’t try to speak in front of 100 people in the first attempt.
  • Talk at a small networking event. Record some short videos.
  • Talk to a small group of close friends and colleagues on a topic you are familiar with.
  • For example, set aside 15 minutes to practice speaking. That way, practice will improve your ability.

Gradually improving will increase your confidence.

2. Use the past as a guide

Imagine when you did something but were scared at first. What lessons can you learn? How confident were you when you achieved that?

  • If you have multiple examples of how to overcome fear, you can find patterns of courage development that you can use to overcome the current challenges that scare you.
