Amazon is now officially releasing a mobile game-based streaming app on all platforms. The platform, which was initially Android-only, has now reached Apple’s App Store.
Mobile games have made great strides in recent years and have become a major trend from livestreaming to competitive games. Still, when it comes to streaming content, we didn’t see the same level of demand as the desktop version. Twitch was the most dominant platform for streaming, but Amazon saw the market in the streaming domain, and beyond Twitch’s dominance, Amazon decided to introduce GameOn.
GameOn allows users to record short clips of gameplay that currently range from 30 seconds to 5 minutes from a variety of titles that support screen capture capture. Users can also record these clips directly in the GameOn library in a screen game and add comments and additional edits before publishing.
However, this platform is not connected to Twitch and is a completely different brand. This makes Twitch a new competitor to worry about as it is today. Amazon is currently partnering with Streamer to focus on mobile games while providing new feedback on the app. According to the company, the service is compatible with over 1,000 mobile games.
