AMD’s mobile Zen 3 CPU benchmark suggests that it could be comparable to Intel’s i7-10700K

AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series CPUs landed in November, but it’s still unclear what the red team is preparing for the next-generation mobile lineup. Tum_ApisakPreviously discovered the benchmarks for the upcoming i9-11900K and Ryzen 7 5800X benchmarks, but discovered the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 5800H GeekBench results displayed within the Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop.

These 5000H mobile processors are expected to be found on laptops from 2021 onwards and are the first mobile processors based on AMD’s Zen 3 architecture. Like its desktop cousin, the Ryzen 7 5800H seems to follow their footsteps very well, throwing some impressive scores. Of course, the benchmark has no effect on actual performance, but the improvements seen from the same architecture in the desktop lineup seem to be expected, at least for future mobile versions.

This Ryzen 7 5800H has the same 8-core 16-thread design that we saw on previous generation AMD mobile processors. Compared to the recent benchmarks of the previous generation Ryzen 7 4800H in a similar Acer Nitro laptop, there are 30% and 64% improvements in single-core and multi-core performance, respectively. It operates at a base clock 3.2GHz higher than the 4800H’s 2.9GHz and boosts up to 4.44GHz compared to 4.29GHz.

Compared to some of the best gaming CPUs for the desktop, the chip competes with a single-core score similar to the i9-10900K benchmark and a multi-core score comparable to the i7-10700K. Keep in mind, this isn’t the pinnacle of Zen 3 mobile processors. 5900HS and 5900HX are also planned.

These chips will feature AMD Vega integrated graphics, but the benchmarks show no signs of that. Fortunately, this isn’t particularly important for gaming laptops with discrete graphics cards.
