(Reuters)-American Airlines (NASDAQ :) offers bonuses and high salaries of up to 300% to employees working on vacation. This is because US airlines are strengthening their staff ahead of the busiest time of the year.

American Airlines wrote to flight attendants on Friday that eligible employees working from November 23 to November 29 and December 22 to January 2 will be eligible for the peak hours of the holidays. He said he would be paid a premium of 150%. Certain employees who are not absent between November 15th and January 2nd will receive a 300% premium.

The news arrives the day after the United States lifts travel bans in many parts of the world since the pandemic began. Months of stagnation in demand have caused a significant surge in bookings.

Travel bookings for the US holiday season also continue to grow rapidly as COVID-19 cases are eased and vaccination rates accelerate, according to airline and industry data.

American Airlines expects to add 4,000 new employees in the fourth quarter, COO David Seymour said in a separate note to all members on Friday.

“In terms of staffing, we welcome a lot of team members and are actively hiring a lot of new hires,” says Seymour.

According to the memo, about 1,800 flight attendants will return from vacation in November, and another 800 will return in December.

The company also said it would offer a $ 1,000 bonus to eligible members who attended fully between November 15th and January 2nd. This bonus applies to teams that include flight crew training instructors, flight simulator engineers, and fleet service members.

Members working on any of the peak days are also eligible to receive 1.5 times their daily wages.
