Animal Crossing Snowflake Guide: How to Get All Snowflake DIY Recipes

Animal Crossing Snow has finally hit the northern hemisphere islands of New Horizons. In other words, the player can find the snowflakes floating in the wind. Players will be able to catch snowflakes and make snowmen, leading to a new winter-themed DIY recipe until January 6th.

Making the perfect snowman will give you lots of new DIY, but finding recipes for snowflake items, such as incredibly new wallpapers, is not so easy. This guide will show you how to find recipes and build your own winter wonderland.

How can I catch snowflakes?

Snow is everywhere on your island.

Like the maple leaves of last month, snowflakes are floating all over the island. You will need to shake your net to them to catch them and put them in your inventory. However, be careful. If you miss it with one or two swings, the snowflakes will disappear. Plan those swings carefully.

There are both normal size and heavy snow. Larger ones are given after the snowman has made them, but regular ones can be caught around the town (large snowflakes can also be caught). Be sure to collect a lot of these snowflakes as they are used in many recipes.

How do I get a snowflake recipe?

This is the difficult part. Like many other seasonal recipes, Snowflake DIY can only be received by shooting down the current balloons floating in the town at specific time intervals. This is annoying because balloons don’t always provide recipes and instead may drop random furniture, clothing, bells, and various resources.

However, there are ways to create a balloon gift. First, you need to know which side of the island you are coming from. It changes after sunset. After understanding that, place yourself on the beach where the balloons spawn.

Grind the balloons.

Balloons spawn every 4 or 9 minutes, so they occur at times like 12:04, 5:49, 11:19, and so on. Keep an eye out for the balloons and run up and down the beach. They will spawn at that time, but may not appear until they drift onto the screen. Some of the balloons you shoot down will be filled with recipes. This is a tedious process, but currently it’s the only way to get Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ special seasonal DIY.
