Hello everyone. Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Julien “Patch” Desourteaux, Game Director of Earthblood. Take a * deep breath * with a side-scrolling action RPG. For Cyanide, is this the first major invasion of the action genre and is there a better way to start than playing as a werewolf?
As Kahal, you participate in a bloody campaign against the evil oil and gas company Endron. Its activities upset the balance of nature and threaten the way of life for gallows and humanity as a whole.
The development team and I first saw the game details and pure gameplay footage, and the form, ability of Cahal, an exiled werewolf, returned to help an endangered tribe. I am very excited to be able to introduce some of my skills. ..
Werewolf: If you’re not familiar with the Apocalypse universe, here are some important plot points. The werewolves in our game are not the typical monsters you would expect from a book or movie. In the World of Darkness, werewolves are warriors and defenders of nature against the corrupt effects of the worm, a spirit of destruction and chaos.
Werewolves are almost the exact opposite of worms, with their own culture, beliefs, and social classes. Kahal is a Fiana warrior, Arlone. He is a ferocious fighter and protects his family violently. There are different tribes that you will encounter throughout the game, each with its own worldview.
Unlike 80’s horror movies, being a werewolf is not a curse. It provides great power and the ability to transform into three different shapes.
Human or “Homid” form
This is the main form used for everything related to social interaction, computer hacking, and stealth skills. You can quietly jump to enemies, perform silent takedowns, and pick enemies from a distance with a crossbow. For some handy upgrades, you can also use a crossbow to disable the electrical system.
Wolf or “Lupus” form
As a human being, there are some places that cannot be entered. It is during this time that we appreciate the speed and agility of wolves. Wolffoam helps you navigate the vents and move quickly between covers so that guards aren’t detected. Speed and agility are the names of the games and are just as valuable when trying to take a stealth approach.
Werewolf or “Klinos” form
When you hear the word “werewolf,” everyone immediately thinks of it. These towering beasts are powerful creatures and can perform catastrophic acts of genocide. The Klinos is the ultimate fighter, and if the infiltration fails, it’s time to grow up or go home.
Brutal and fast-paced combat
Werewolves are not known for their patience, and your inner anger rises when you quietly defeat your enemies. Sooner or later you will have to fight your way.
For our first foray into the action genre, we wanted to design a truly impactful, brutal combat system. Something that brings these powerful creatures to life. Focusing on strength, power, and aggression, we made many iterations, balancing various movements and enemies. Every movement, every animation, needed its “snap” and “crunch” to make each strike feel heavy and satisfying.
Rage is the center of battle. When you damage an enemy, the rage accumulates and you can perform a variety of special movements, from unleashing a large range of attacks to rushing towards the enemy.
Klinos has two different combat stances, each suitable for different situations.
- Agile stance allows you to perform fast attacks and move quickly between enemies. This is especially useful if you need to approach enemies at long distances or if you are cornered.
- Heavy stance increases strength and resistance at the expense of agility, but it’s a worthwhile opportunity to quickly dispose of basic enemies and defeat stronger enemy guards.
As the battle progresses, your frenzy meter will fill up and when it boils, Kahal will be able to unleash his anger. Frenzy is a double-edged sword. While active, you can increase the speed and power of your attacks and unleash spectacular dedicated combat movements. However, in return, you cannot block, heal, or use any other special movement until the Fury Gauge is empty.
We hope you enjoyed the video and this article as it’s only a few weeks before you let go of your anger. If you want to know more about the game, search for “Werewolf V Game” and follow social networks.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood will be available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 4th, starting today.
