Prior to December 2020, Apple Silicon Chips were not available for homebrew.

Homebrew has officially released it as homebrew 2.6.0 for the new Apple Silicon Chip.

And they made some changes to the command, the brew command that replaces all brewcask commands in homebrew 2.6.0

Major changes and deprecations since 2.5.0:

Homebrew Developer Recommendations (Currently, we recommend running Homebrew with Intel emulation on Rosetta 2).

Best way:

1. Install Rosetta or update Rosetta

2. Duplicate the terminal

Go to your applications folder and find your favorite terminal. Right-click on the terminal icon and[複製]Choose.

You now have two devices in your application folder. Rename the newly created terminal to Terminal Rosetta or whatever you like.

The next step is to enable the terminal rosette. Right-click on the newly created terminal and[情報を見る]Click to open a new window of application information. Marked the “Open with Rosetta” option.

Now you have two terminals. One is native and the other is Rosetta.

Install HomeBrew using the Rosetta terminal

To install HomeBrew, open a Rosetta terminal and run the following command:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"

When you run this command, you will be prompted for a password. It then provides information about everything to install and the new directory to create.

Press Enter to start the installation process and dump the process logs as well.

Using HomeBrew

Once you have HomeBrew installed, you can use HomeBrew to install the required packages on your Mac.

Get brew help by running the following command

To install the package, you can run the following command

brew install packagename
Example:
brew install node
brew install python
brew install watchman
brew installl

You can now install and start using Homebrew on your Apple M1 Mac.

Future articles will try to resolve package installation errors via brew and cocoapods. Please look forward to it.
