Autonomous progress thanks to AI Drivers at Port of Singapore

Two modified prime movers are testing AI in container shipping

The technology of self-driving company AI Drivers is being used by Singapore’s container port operator PSA Singapore to test two prime movers in the island states.

AI Drivers, which focuses on artificial intelligence in transportation, said it was awarded a proof-of-concept project for Autonomous Motors (APM) by PSA Singapore in October 2018.

“The goal is to modify an Ai-enabled autonomous solution for horizontal movement automation at PSA’s Pasir Panjang terminal,” says the UK company.

“The two diesel trucks have been converted to fully autonomous vehicles using AI Drivers’ AI-enabled autonomous driving platform and have been in trial operation since 2019.

“The APM feature covers the suitability to operate in day and night conditions in a variety of load configurations and mixed traffic environments. Multi-sensor technology is designed to operate in busy port conditions to ensure safety and accuracy. It has been.

“AiDrivers develops and uses true 3D digital twins for autonomous mobility automation like like-2 to run complex test cases in a simulated environment before testing in a real environment. I’ve been doing it.

“Data logging and AV data visualizers were also introduced during this phase.”

Over time, Singapore has sought to strengthen its port and container handling through advanced technology.

In 2017, Scania and Toyota announced that they would carry out Singapore’s first full-scale autonomous truck platooning in a three-year pilot project.

According to the company, its unique technology combines radar, LiDAR and cameras, retrofitting existing truck fleets to make it completely autonomous.

Aidrivers technology has two basic solutions: Autonomous Intelligent Operating System (AIOS) and Autonomous Intelligent Fleet Operator (AIFO).

AIOS features precision 3D mapping and localization for navigating mixed traffic in dynamic port environments.

The operating system combines 3D perception with situational awareness to enable autonomous driving.

AIFO provides operators with a live visualization platform and predictive mobility analysis for intelligent route planning, facilitating on-time operations and energy-efficient vehicle scheduling.

The news follows AI Drivers’ collaboration with US electric vehicle startup Hyzon Motors to jointly produce autonomous hydrogen-powered trucks that provide green technology to ports.

“This is a breakthrough combination to partner with Hyzon Motors to reshape the future of automation. Autonomous mobility needs this acceleration to move technology to the next stage of development.” Said Dr Rafiq Swash, CEO and founder of AI Drivers, in January. transaction.

“This will accelerate efficiency gains and create a sustainable future for self-driving cars.

“We are excited to work with Hyzon, a global leader in fuel cell technology and already a supplier of hydrogen-powered trucks to ports, an established and pioneering group of global zero-emission mobility. I am. “

AIDrivers is also entering the automatic crane operation based on the container port theme.
