Berlin (AFP) – Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer excludes Dortmund striker Erling Haaland’s bid on Sunday, record-breaking forward Robert Lewandowski ends his career with the Bavarian giant I hope that.

Heiner told broadcaster Sport1 that FC Bayern would not sign Harland “because of Robert Lewandowski.”

In August next year, a 34-year-old Polish striker signed with Bavaria until 2023, and Heiner “told him often enough” that club officials “highly valued” him.

21-year-old Haaland has a contract in Dortmund until 2024, but may resign in 2022 when the cancellation clause of the contract of about 80 million euros ($ 90 million) comes into effect.

Norwegians have scored 76 goals in Dortmund games since January 2020 and are considered one of the most popular properties in European football.

Harland’s agent Mino Raiola recently said at the end of the season that “Ering is likely to leave,” citing Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City as destinations.

However, Heiner revealed that Bayern was very pleased with Lewandowski, who participated in the free transfer from Dortmund in 2014.

Lewandowski has scored 19 goals in the Bundesliga this season, 354 appearances in Bayern and 324 goals.

He scored on Friday’s Wolfsburg 4-0 thrashing and set a new record for 43 Bundesliga goals in a calendar year.

This is the second time Lewandowski has broken the long-standing record set by Bavarian legend Gerd Müller after finishing the 2020/21 season with a new 41-league record.

“We are very happy to welcome him because he absolutely guarantees the goal. He is the best striker in the world,” Heiner told the German daily Bilt.

“I hope he finishes his career with us.”
