Former UFC live announcer Mike Goldberg will no longer be a member of the Bellator MMA broadcast team.
In a recent interview New York postScott Coker, president of Bellator MMA, has confirmed that the promotion will cut off its relationship with Goldberg. Former UFC voice has been a member of the Bellator broadcast team since signing the deal in July 2017.
Goldberg’s tenure at Bellator ends in just four years, and his departure will take place at Bellator 255 late tonight (Friday, April 2, 2021) shortly before the promotion’s debut at showtime (results). Here).
“Mike Goldberg won’t be part of the mix in the future,” Coker said. “But I think we did a great run with Mike, and the door will always be open.”
When Goldberg gets out of the mix, Bellator rolls with an improved broadcast team for the transition to showtime. Former Strikeforce commentator Mauro Lanaro, along with other members of the team, including John McCarthy, Josh Thomson and Jen Brown, will take the lead. The promotion also brings more active fighters to help Bellator 255’s commentary starting late tonight with AJ McKee.
“Bellator has a stylized Showtime style. You’ll see changes,” Coker said.
Goldberg, 56, is now free to sign any promotion he wants. While it’s unlikely that the UFC will give veteran fighters a different look, there are many organizations that can benefit from familiar voices like Goldberg. This includes the Professional Fighters League (PFL), the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA), and even the ONE Championship.
The Bellator 255 main card will air at Showtime (and elsewhere) at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time. MMAmania.com It provides full-card and comprehensive play-by-play results for the TV broadcast portion of the Bellator 255.
