Bethesda announces new Indiana Jones game from Wolfenstein developers

Surprise teaser Bethesda Softworks, who tweeted Tuesday morning, said a game by Indiana Jones, executive producer of Machine Games, is under development.

Teaser sheds light on details such as launch dates, windows, and platforms, but it’s definitely an Indiana Jones game.This year, Lucasfilm celebrates its 40th anniversary Raiders of the Lost ArkPremiere.

According to a follow-up tweet from Bethesda, Todd Howard, the creative director of Bethesda Game Studios, will be the executive producer of the untitled game. It features the original story and is not an adaptation of the previous one.

Despite the popularity of the movie series, Indiana Jones video games were hard to come by, except for the adaptation of Lego by Traveller’s Tales.The latest was 2009 Indiana Jones and the King’s Staff, For Wii and PlayStation 2, for Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable.

The game was planned for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was said to be in a fairly advanced stage of development in 2008, when Lucasarts suddenly canceled a project for these platforms.

On Monday, Lucasfilm announced that the Lucasfilm Games label will now accompany all video game adaptations of the Lucasfilm property. This seems to be the first game to come out with that branding.

Machine Games, owned by Bethesda Softworks, has changed four id Software Wolfenstein series since 2014. Wolfenstein: The New Order.. Microsoft purchased Bethesda’s parent ZeniMax Media in September.
