BJP Nominates Pon Radhakrishnan to Challenge Kanyakumari LS Poll

The BJP has nominated senior leader and former federal minister Pon Radhakrishnan as a candidate for the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha by-election, which will be held with a vote by the Tamil Nadu Parliament on April 6.

By-elections were required by the death of Parliamentarian Vasantha Kumar by Covid-19 in August 2020. Radhakrishnan, who won the seat in 2014, lost to Kumar in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to a party statement released in Delhi, the BJP’s Central Election Commission will be nominated for Rajnath Singnan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Interior Minister Amit Shah under President JP Nadda. Approved.

The BJP announcement will be made within hours of the party signing a seat sharing agreement with AIADMK, which will vie for 20 seats.

The announcement of Radhakrishnan will also be made one day before Amit Shah’s visit to Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

“I will work hard and win the elections that deserve their choice,” said Rada Krishnan, thanking the senior leaders for nominating him. The AIADMK-led alliance has already allocated 23 seats to Pattalli Makkal Katchi. The hectic parade is roped at DMDK to become part of the alliance.
