Boston University Honors and Awards Members of the 2001 National Championship Team at the October 15th Match-College Hockey – NHL Sports

As part of the 20th anniversary of the Boston University Men’s Hockey Team’s 2001 NCAA Championship, the Eagles will celebrate the 2000-01 team members at home opener at 18 Northeastern University this Friday night.

Team members including Brian Gionta, Bobby Allen, Rob Scuderi, Brooks Orpik, Chuck Kobaseu, Chris Coranos and Scott Clementsen will be honored on ice during the first break. The team will also be honored on the field of a BC football game against North Carolina State University at Alamnai Stadium on Saturday night.

On April 7, 2001, Boston University defeated North Dakota 3-2 while working overtime at Pepsi Arena in Albany with a goal from Coranos at 4:43 on an extended time. This is the second of five national titles throughout the program and the first since 1949.

Gionta led the 2000-01 Eagles with 33 goals and 54 points, while Coranos scored 25 goals and 25 assists with 50 points. Clemmensen was 30-7-2 online, GAA was 2.12 and the save rate was .914.
