Brown’s supercar makes a suspicious debut after a practice crash – Motorsports

The Erebus rookie started the one-hour session dramatically, finishing third on the early lap after Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert.

It was until he hit the 30-minute mark on the exit wall of the dipper, leaving Holden with serious front-end damage.

Brown spoke on television, hinting that the weekend might have ended because of the crash.

However, an Erebus spokesperson confirmed to that today is not on track, but tomorrow’s return is not excluded.

“It was a complete ball-up on my behalf,” Brown explained.

“There was a lot of understeer from there, so I turned early to stop the understeer and tried to get a little closer. It was a little too early.

“That’s really disappointing. I’m probably out this weekend. It’s bad for the team and for everyone. We keep raising and shaking our chin.”

Mostert set the pace in the first session, with Walkinshaw Andretti United drivers appearing on the green tires happy hour in the last few minutes.

His 2:05:205 was four-tenths away from former Tickford teammate Cameron Waters, and Brycefulwood finished WAU’s promising start in the third fastest time.

“I don’t know who ran the tires or who didn’t,” Mostert said. “I made some changes in that session and it made me feel positive. The car’s feedback and tuning ease wasn’t there last year and it seems to be working today. Next session Let’s see what happens in. “”

Jamie Wincup led the road to Triple Eight in 4th place, ahead of late improvers Andre Heimgartner, Scott Pai and Tim Slade.

Anton de Pasquale was the best Dick Johnson Racing driver in 8th place, ahead of Mustang companions James Courtney and David Reynolds.

Wangisbergen, who led most of the session, retreated to 12th place due to delayed improvement.

Practice will continue in the second hour session at 4:05 pm local time.
