Murray Scotton recently won the 2020 Volunteer of the Year-Marilyn Jones Memorial Award at the Calgary Real Estate Commission’s annual meeting. The award is given annually to CREB realtors who embody the spirit of volunteerism and community service, and was created to commemorate the late Marilyn Jones, a local realtor who was a dedicated volunteer throughout her career.
“It’s a great honor to know Marilyn from the volunteer opportunities we shared with her and win this award, which really makes a lot of sense to me,” says Scotton.
A 13-year-old real estate agent, Scotton has been deeply involved in the CREB Realtor Community Foundation and has helped provide housing and shelter solutions to those who need it most. He spent a lot of time volunteering and financing and joined the board for four years before assuming his current role as chair of the Foundation.
“Murray is the epitome of a super volunteer who never quits,” says CREB President and CEO Alan Tenant. “His infectious enthusiasm makes his leadership invaluable to CREB, and to the community in which our realtors live and love.”
In 2019 alone, Scotton attended all days of the CREB build with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered for over 100 hours. He is also the flagship of several local charities, including Kids Cancer Care’s Camp Kindle, Inn from the Cold, Calgary Drop-in Center, and Made by Momma.
