Activision made a big hit with the launch of the next-generation console by adding 120fps support to the Xbox Series X To Call of Duty: Warzone. This wasn’t reflected on the PlayStation 5, and it continues to peak at 60Hz. The turmoil continued, but it became clear when Rocket League developer Psyonix revealed that Sony did not allow 120Hz support for legacy PS4 apps running on the PlayStation 5. .. compat (especially Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima, both running on PS5 at 60 fps). So I was wondering how much Warzone improved when I ran it on both next generation machines. Series X allows support for 120fps, are there any other benefits? answer? At all.
We used Warzone’s cross-play feature to get the comparison data we needed. This allows up to 4 different gamers with supported consoles or PCs to play together on the same server. Not only that, you can actually get accurate and aligned shots of gameplay from all systems by extinguishing all members of the team and synchronizing the captures in spectator mode. Four consoles and four gamers are all recording footage of the same player. From there, you can start your analysis properly.
First of all, even if your Xbox Series X and S versions have an “optimized” status, you can probably be sure that Warzone is actually a backwards compatible title, as it supports 120Hz. .. However, when you run the matching Xbox One X and Series X feeds side by side, it’s clear that this is virtually the same game. However, there are some interesting improvements, mainly provided by the efforts of the Xbox compatibility team. First of all, Series X hardware essentially eliminates the dynamic resolution sub 4K rendering found on the Xbox One X. It can be extended from 1920×2160 to 3840×2160. With every pixel count run, the Series X offers full Ultra HD resolution-even in scenarios where the Xbox One X is well below 60 frames per second. In essence, Warzone takes full advantage of backcompat support with a multiplier of twice the resolution-impressive.
There are also enhancements. Again, the console’s bake-in compatibility feature has been brought to the fore, with Series X performing 16x anisotropic filtering, which seems to significantly improve the quality of the ground texture. Also, the grass draw distance seems to be boosted. It doesn’t affect gameplay, but it definitely upgrades the original OneX rendering of the scene. Appears everywhere. Cake icing is that Warzone is locked to 60 frames per second on the Series X no matter how you push the game. It has extra horsepower to take advantage of and expects the DRS to be there as the last resort. So, assuming you’re running on a 60Hz screen, the default is effectively a locked 4K60.
How about PS5? The PlayStation Store has marked the game as a PS4 title, and based on the information gathered from Psyonix, I’ve confirmed that the 120 fps game is off the table, but I still saw it on Days Gone and Ghost of. The door to such enhancements is open. Tsushima. Sadly, apart from the high resolution texture packs (which are also available on the latest generation systems, by the way), the only enhancement you get on the PS5 is the side effect of adding extra horsepower to the table-otherwise. Are considering PS4 Pro specs This means that Warzone runs at PS4 Pro up to 2716×1528 resolutions. This means that new machines will not support 4K. The PS5 has no way to push beyond 1528p, despite the increased GPU, but it’s basically locked to 60 frames per second. Also, the system-level features that Series X enjoys in favor of the compatibility team are not available to PS5 users. In other words, there is no improvement in grass drawing distance or anisotropic filtering.
The situation is a bit strange when it comes to the Xbox Series S. Microsoft’s junior next-generation machines inherit the old and weak One S settings, so they work with dialed-back post-effect quality, work at 1080p resolution, and maximize the DRS window in the original code. There are many more possibilities in this version, and for now it looks a bit coarser than what you actually need when you turn on the tap. At the very least, we’re getting the same locked 60 frames per second found on other next-generation machines. Also, like the Series X, when you connect it to a compatible display and run the game, the Series S can exceed the limit of 60 frames per second and achieve frame rates up to 120 fps.
High frame rate mode was secretly added by the developers-and only became apparent after the Warzone player switched the 120Hz mode of the series console in the system menu to run the game. It works, but it requires a lot of attention in terms of increasing the resolution on both machines. Due to the high frame rate target, it seems that DRS is started and Series S always drops to the lower limit of 960×1080, but similarly, Series X is usually forced down to 1920×2160. On the other hand, the actual frame rate works in windows from 80fps to 120fps. Combined with a variable refresh rate display (tested on LG OLED CX), presentations are significantly smoother and input latency is shorter, but disabling VRR makes v-sync judder uncomfortable enough to immerse in an Xbox display. You may find that the menu that selects 60Hz is a better bet. One of the interesting things is that while both consoles can offer the same performance level in 120Hz mode, the Series S focused on a range of matched gameplay that is actually fast. Despite the reduced resolution, the Series X still holds up in terms of presentation quality, but the reconstructed 960×1080 image can look quite muddy, which has too much of an impact on quality. The same cannot be said about.
In essence, what’s here is very similar to some sort of retention pattern. Infinity Ward is committed to backwards compatibility support, bringing the next generation of players into existing games. Evidence is that Microsoft’s existing support for 120Hz displays across the console generation will allow developers to take advantage of the new high frame rate mode, and the work of the Xbox compatibility team will make the additional horsepower of the series consoles more consistent. Series X’s additional horsepower and compatibility features clean up performance issues in the final generation version and provide the only 4K60 presentation on the console. If you use a compatible display, a “maximum” 120 frames per second game will be added. Of course, what we really want is a true next-generation app upgrade for the game. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War plays beautifully with 120 frames per second lock in multiplayer mode. We hope that experience will be brought to Warzone on all next-generation consoles.
