Cleveland Cavaliers Adds Former NBA Guard Jose Calderon to Front Office – NBA Sports

Cleveland- Cavaliers Former guards are resurrected Jose Calderon The team announced on Friday as a special adviser to the front office.

Calderon played 14 seasons in the NBA, spent the 2017-18 campaign in the Cleveland, and the Cavaliers made it to the finals four times in a row. 40 years old Detroit Pistons 2018-19.

After retirement, he worked with the National Basketball Players Association as an assistant to Michel Roberts, executive director of NBPA, and as a senior management team on union strategies and issues related to current players.

Calderon, along with Cavs, will support Koby Altman, the team’s newly appointed president of basketball operations.

“We are excited to add José Calderon’s background and experience to the front office,” said Altman, who received an extension this week. “It is invaluable to be familiar with his achievements as a basketball player and our organization.

“We look forward to his insights and perspectives on how to keep this team moving forward and strengthen its commitment to sustainable and long-term success here in Cleveland.”

After winning 22 games last season, the Cavs are 24-18. They play in San Antonio on Friday.

Calderon averaged 8.9 points and 5.8 assists in 895 career games. He played for four Olympic teams in Spain and won two silver medals and one bronze medal.

He played six professional seasons in Spain before invading Toronto in 2005. He spent eight seasons at the Raptors and played for the Pistons, Mavericks, Lakers, Knicks and Hawks before signing a one-year contract with the Cleveland.
