CONCACAF Rewind: Canada scores points in Mexico and El Salvador outperforms Panama. – Soccer Sports

The Canadian men’s national team produced historic results Thursday night, providing the latest evidence that they are very strong candidates for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Faced with the full-fledged Mexican side at Aztec Stadium, the Canadians shook off the early El Trigor to win a one-on-one draw. This is the first World Cup qualifying point the Canadian has earned in Mexico since 1980.

Jonathan Osorio’s equalizer from the beautiful Alphonso Davies Pass helped the Canadians become the first team in Concacaf history to score points in the battle between Mexico and the United States in the same World Cup qualifying cycle.

El Salvador beat Panama well with an important 1-0 home victory over the Octagonal table.

Mexico 1, Canada 1

(Jorge Sanchez 21’– Jonathan Osorio 42′)

Canada scored points in Mexico for the first time since 1980 and maintained its pace with Mexico and the USMNT in the process.

Club America’s Jorge Sanchez scored his first El Trigor in the 21st minute. After that, Jonathan Osorio caught up with the tie just before half-time.

Canada is third in the octagon, two points behind Mexico and the USMNT. Canada’s excellent results have sparked a strong controversy on the part of John Herdman to qualify for progress.

El Salvador 1, Panama 0

Enrico Dueñas 37 ′

The strike in the first half of Enrico Duenas continued to mix the strong side of El Salvador with 5 points. El Salvador is currently tied to Panama at points.

Panama suffered the first loss of the qualifying cycle. Los Canareros got off to a great start on Concacaf, drawing with Mexico and defeating Jamaica 3-0, but they saw.

Honduras 0, Costa Rica 0

Both sides continued to hope for points in the match, but a big chance to climb the table begged Honduras.

Los Catrachos dominated the match, holding two-thirds of the ball and shooting 24 shots.

Neither Honduras nor Costa Rica have won the match since July and have not yet won the Octagonal victory throughout the four rounds. The match on Thursday gave us the chance to challenge El Salvador, Panama and Canada in the middle of the table. Costa Rica will have another chance the next time they play against El Salvador. Honduras will face Mexico on Sunday.
