Cortez has been nominated to operate Wal-Mart’s US transportation business

Walmart Inc. is Keurig Dr. Pepper Inc. Fernando Cortes, the company’s chief supply chain manager, has been appointed to head the US transportation business, said Joe Metzger, the company’s chief supply chain manager, late Tuesday.

Cortez spent 18 years at a consumer goods company based in Plano, Texas (NASDAQ: KDP)According to Metzger’s LinkedIn post announcing the decision, will report to Metzger. Cortez’s official position at Wal-Mart is Senior Vice President of Transportation.

In May, Wal-Mart chose Metsger to play a new role as Executive Vice President of Supply Chain Operations. Since its appointment, Metzger has been responsible for leading the company’s US transportation business, as well as more than 150 distribution and fulfillment centers.

Cortez oversees a network of 6,100 tractors, 61,000 trailers and more than 7,800 drivers. Wal-Mart based in Bentonville, ArkansasNYSE: WMT) It has one of the largest civilian fleets in the country.
