According to new statistics from CD Projekt, more than half of Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-orders were placed on PCs, with 74% of sales being digital copies.

Despite all the criticisms and controversies surrounding it before its launch Cyberpunk 2077 was expected to be one of the biggest game releases in 2020.

And now, just one day after its release, CD Projekt’s investor public relations Twitter account shared some amazing data about its launch.

Not only did the game pre-orders reach 8 million, but CD Projekt states that 59% of those pre-orders were for the PC version.

This means that 4.72 million PC copies were ready at launch, making it the best-selling game on PC to date.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the previous record holder was World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands. This is the latest extension of Blizzard’s MMO, which sold 3.7 million copies at launch and set a record within a week.

When it comes to physical / digital splits, 74% of the units sold were digital. Probably because most players wanted to be able to play the game immediately, rather than waiting for a physical copy to arrive at the post.

Cyberpunk 2077’s PC sales were strong because it was the best way to play and the console version (especially PlayStation 4 and Xbox One S) was ridiculed due to various performance issues. It seems.

CD Projekt could also have been worried about many potential customers because it couldn’t see the game running on the console more than a few weeks before its launch.

Those who want to enjoy the game to the fullest on the console are advised to postpone until the final PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are released in 2021.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia.
