CD Projekt Red is reported to have changed the bonus structure so that the Cyberpunk 2077 development team receives the full bonus payment, regardless of the degree of game review.
As reported in Bloomberg, Polish studio executives sent a staff email on Friday stating that no matter how well everyone would receive a full bonus payment. Cyberpunk 2077 Will be reviewed.
“Initially there was a bonus system focused on the rating and release date of the game, but after some consideration, we think the measurements are simply unfair in this situation,” said the cyberpunk game at Studio Head. The director, Adam Badowski, is a staff member. “We underestimated the length and complexity needed to achieve this, but nevertheless did everything we could to provide an ambitious and special game.”
The initial threshold for full bonus payments seems to have been a score of at least 90 in Metacritic. The PC version is currently at that very score, but the review score on the console looks even worse.
According to the report, the original bonus system implemented on CD Projekt Red was based on tokens with the studio’s red bird logo. It will be distributed by the team leader to the most suitable team members. Nevertheless, these tokens will only be transferred to the bonus if the game meets the criteria of critic praise and timely release.
A report written by Jason Schreier states that this bonus system implicitly encouraged staff to work long hours. After the game was delayed from the already delayed September release, the studio went into a compulsory crunch with six working weeks.
Even when cyberpunk is finally released, staff are working hard to resolve all the bugs and glitches reported in the game. The latest patch has at least fixed an issue where certain images can cause seizures in people suffering from epilepsy.
