According to CD Projekt Red management, Cyberpunk 2077 is “premature” to appear on the Xbox Game Pass. As part of the company’s latest revenue briefing, Adam Kynski said the studio considers every business opportunity for the game. This includes the game pass. However, the Game Pass doesn’t make sense for Cyberpunk 2077 at this stage of its life cycle, executives said.
“We always consider every business opportunity, but this kind of subscription model isn’t too early because it’s suitable for a particular moment in the product lifecycle,” VGC reports. Kicinski said.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt has been on the Game Pass and PlayStation Now for some time, and Kicinski said that Cyberpunk 2077 needs to do similar cost-effectiveness calculations. For the studio to consider it.
“We need to weigh profits and costs every time, so we need to weigh them against sales, so we make decisions based on data. It’s too early for cyberpunk,” says Kicinski.
This follows CD Projekt Red’s commentary, which the company confirmed in early November that it had “no plans” to introduce Cyberpunk 2077 to the Game Pass.
Released in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was plagued by a long list of bugs and other issues. Since then, updates have improved the game and new versions of the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S will be available in 2022.
Despite the Cyberpunk 2077 issue, CD Projekt continues to work on improving and expanding the game so that it can be sold for years to come. The game is currently 50% off on Steam as part of the fall sale.
