After years of development and multiple delays, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be released on December 10th. However, the release is still in its infancy. In addition to the expansion to the single-player campaign that will be revealed later, CD Projekt Red has another team working on a standalone multiplayer game set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
But when will it be released? CDPR hasn’t dated yet, but it probably won’t lock immediately. Regarding the release date of Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer game, CDPR states that it should be expected to be released in 2022 at the earliest.
CDPR executive Adam Kicinski recently talked about the game at a financial results briefing. He said it was incorrect to call it just the “mode” of Cyberpunk 2077.
Instead, you should think of it as a standalone product. “So, first, we don’t call it a mode,” Kicinski said. “This is another dedicated production, a large production. I think it’s a standalone product.”
Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer games are connected to single player games, but CD Projekt Red considers them to be “independent productions” that are being worked on by a team separate from the one that builds the single player games.
Kicinski further states that CD Projekt Red is now deliberately quieting multiplayer games and is likely to continue to focus on the hype of Cyberpunk 2077’s single-player games. According to Kicinski, news about Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer games is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2021.
What we do Do What we know about Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer games is that we have some kind of microtransaction system, but at this stage it is unclear which business model to use. Regarding microtransactions, CD Projekt Red’s goal is to provide users with purchased content that feels like a fair deal.
