Dairy production slows
Dairy production in October was mixed and inventories remained high.
Total cheese production was £ 1.15 billion, up almost 1 percent from the previous year and the previous month. Italian cheese production increased 3.5% a year and slightly increased a month. American cheese production, on the other hand, declined slightly each year, but increased by 2% from September.
Butter production totaled £ 159m, down nearly 2% from the previous year but up more than 11% from last month.
Non-fat milk powder has decreased by nearly 12% since 2020, and skim milk powder has decreased by nearly 8%. Dry whey production increased by 4%, while lactose increased by nearly 12% year-on-year.
