Indianapolis-Dale Coyne Racing and Wasser Sullivan Racing announced on Friday that they will end their IndyCar Series partnership.
The two teams have worked together over the last four seasons.
Coyne’s team issued a statement admitting that Vasser Sullivan wanted to focus on sports car entry, but said the Vasser Sullivan team wanted to compete on the top open-wheel circuits in North America.
“We have had great success with our Vasser Sullivan Racing partners. We are grateful for everything Jimmy and Sari have brought to the team and for our 18th place entry,” said Coyne’s team. “We understand that they want to focus on their sports car efforts, and we see that they have their continued success in their factory Lexus deal and their future projects. Good luck. “
The announcement will be made the day after Coyne confirms that the team has won the Indianapolis 500 twice. Takuma Sato.. Japanese drivers will compete under a coin partnership with Rick Ware Racing.
There is speculation that Coyne will enter into a new partnership to drive a second car this season, rather than with Vasser Sullivan.
