DB Schenker Opens New Logistics Facility in Shannon for € 10 Million

Global logistics service provider DB Schenker plans to invest € 10 million in Shannon’s new distribution center. This investment is a strong commitment to the company’s continued expansion in the western region of Ireland.

The new site is near Shannon Airport (SNN) and has direct access to the local highway network, providing quick access to the Western Corridor of Ireland. This site provides customers with all services including air and sea transportation, land transportation and value-added logistics solutions.
The total area of ​​the new building will be 4,831 square meters. This includes a warehouse with an area of ​​3,716 square meters. The height of the clearance will be 12.5 meters. The site is TAPAA certified from a security perspective, including secure fencing, full CCTV coverage, access control, intrusion alert systems, and remote monitoring.

When the facility is complete, it will also comply with DB Schenker certifications for quality (ISO 9001), environmental protection (ISO 14001), and health and safety (ISO 45001). The warehouse is heated, allowing temperature control in the range of 15oC to 25oC. The heating system utilizes a combination of solar heating equipment and energy efficient heat pumps. All lighting systems will be equipped with LEDs and the site will also have an electric vehicle charging station. In the future, it will be installed to support the installation of truck charging stations.

DB Schenker is also expanding in the UK
In Tamworth, England’s West Midland region, DB Schenker is expanding the existing site of Centurion Park. Here, the company has invested 3.5 million euros in expanding its existing terminal facilities, bringing the total area to 14,214 square meters. The facility employs 100 people.
