Deer workers reject Reuters 6-year employment contract

(Reuters)-The majority of Deer (NYSE :) & Co workers voted against a six-year employment contract tentatively agreed with the United Auto Workers (UAW) earlier this month, a US tractor. The manufacturer said on Sunday.
Wage and benefits arrangements would have targeted approximately 10,000 employees at 14 facilities in Iowa, Illinois and Kansas.
“John Deere is committed to continuing the collective bargaining process,” the company said, adding that operations would continue as usual.
The agreement between the UAW and John Deere on October 1 was rejected by “90% of its members,” UAW Vice President Chuck Browning said in another statement.
He said the strike deadline is set at the end of Wednesday.
According to Browning, the deal included significant financial benefits and provided the highest quality medical benefits in the industry.
