Prior to its launch on November 10, developer Bungie has dropped a new launch trailer for the latest Destiny 2 Extended Beyond Light. We’ll take a quick look at the next chapter in Destiny 2 than this week’s long ViDoc, but there’s still a lot to unpack here.
Darkness has finally arrived in our solar system, new fallen homes have risen to challenge the Guardians, and the temptation of new forces from the Traveler’s old enemies wonders where their loyalty really lies. Brought the defenders of humanity to think.
All of that and the eerie orchestral remix of The Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black can be heard in the background.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light features far more content than was seen in the launch trailer. Returning to Earth, you can revisit the Cosmodrome from your first fate, but this patrol zone is under more sinister power. New corruption has begun to bend Fallen, Cabal, and Hive into the will of Xivu Arath, the god of war in Hive and the sister of the witch Queen Savatun. A familiar face from the past, the awakened Prince Uldren Sov, has also returned to assist in the Guardian’s quest.
Such events will be part of the Season of the Hunt, which is the period of the season in which players participate in various other challenges, acquire new gear, and participate in new strikes. A big attraction of Beyond Light is the introduction of the Stasis subclasses (Titan Behemoth, Hunter Revenant, Warlock Shadebinder). This allows you to take advantage of the battlefield with the power to freeze and crush your enemies.
For more information on the expansion, please visit the Destiny 2 Hub and Preorders page. This arrives shortly after Destiny 2 has been reduced in size and some of its legacy content has been locked into Destiny Vault. Destiny 2 will be playable with backward compatibility on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with a next-generation upgrade coming in December.
