Kotaku reports it Diablo 4 Game director Luis Barriga, lead-level designer Jesse McCree, World of Warcraft Designer Jonathan Lecraft has been released from Blizzard today.
The announcement follows a week-long fallout at Activision Blizzard over a California lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which claims a toxic culture of sexual harassment and discrimination in Blizzard Entertainment.
Employees were reportedly informed about today’s news, but were not given a reason for departure.
Whether it’s game production or public image, especially for Bariga, who was a leader, this departure could prove important to a company that’s already confused. Diablo 4, One of the most anticipated games under development today.
We asked Activision Blizzard for comment. I’ll update this story if I get a reply.
update: An Activision Blizzard spokesman confirmed that Barriga, McCree, and LeCraft were not in Blizzard Entertainment. “We already have a deep and talented list of developers and are assigned new leaders as needed,” they said. “We are confident in our ability to continue to make progress, provide players with a great experience, and move forward to ensure a safe and productive work environment for everyone.”
