Dodgers: Andrew Friedman talks about Corey Seager’s expansion potential – MLB Sports

Winning the National League Championship Series MVP is a big challenge. Winning a World Series MVP can be an even bigger problem. But winning both, something we rarely see, was able to see it at the Dodgers Corey Seager in 2020.

After a solid 2020 campaign that culminated in the World Series Championship, Dodgers fans began looking to the future with Seger. After years of engaging in all possible trade rumors, coupled with Francisco Lindau’s whispers around Los Angeles, Seger played in a way that everyone could remember what he could do when he was healthy.

When was the only question to Dodgers fans after the World Series was over? When will Los Angeles give Seger a long-term contract to keep him in LA? Fortunately, Athletic asked This week, I will be chairman of baseball management Andrew Friedman.

Corey is a big part of what we have achieved in the last five years. Our hope is that he will be a big part of our future. But obviously, he, like us, is focused on making the 2021 season as good as possible. I will understand it when the time comes.

That may be part of the delay, as MLB and Player’s Union still have a lot to understand for the 2021 season. Another part of the delay could be Scott Boras, a Seager agent who wants to take Corey to the free agent market. Even so, it’s likely to give the Dodgers a chance to match the offer to Seger.

In any case, this is the final year of arbitration before Seager hit the market. If the Dodgers want to keep Corey for years to come, they’ll need to do it right away.
