Elden Ring has been postponed to February 25, 2022

From Software’s Elden Ring is late. It was scheduled to be released on January 21, 2022, but is now postponed to February 25, 2022. In an official tweet, the development team said the overall depth and “strategic freedom” offered exceeded initial expectations. We thank the players for their “trust and patience” and look forward to the closed network test in November.

The Elden Ring was first unveiled at E3 2019, but lacked new details and updates until the recent Summer Olympics showcase. Along with the first official gameplay footage, the release date was announced and the current generation platform was added to the lineup. Since then, many new details have been revealed, including fast travel, crafting, and platforms.

Such delays are not completely unexpected. The COVID-19 pandemic states that it is in the final stages of development, but it is affecting development around the world, resulting in many large-scale games being delayed. Elden Ring is currently planned to be released for the Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
