Euro Truck Simulator 2 has official multiplayer and is already in beta at ATS.

Both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator players have been able to access multiplayer through community mods for many years, but official multiplayer support is still a long-sought feature. The developer’s SCS software is currently working on that very thing, and you can already try out the multiplayer features in the experimental beta of ATS.

The new convoy mode, called the official multiplayer option, has both advantages and limitations compared to the community option TruckersMP. Optimus Prime is a much smaller take of multiplayer, with private sessions built for eight players. The big advantage over TruckersMP today is that AI traffic, time and weather are in sync. Therefore, you will not drive on an empty road during a session with your friends.

Instructions for joining the American Truck Simulator Convoy Beta are available on the official forums, but the developers have provided a warning that this is a very experimental beta. You may run into many bugs, there is currently no mod support, and some things, such as minor weather patterns, are not yet fully synced. Developers are also advised to back up their save data before trying the beta, just in case.

Again, multiplayer support for ETS2 is planned, but the beta version is currently for ATS only.
