Extensive rain moving from the Great Plains to most of the Corn Belt, Deep South

Systems being developed in the central and southern United States will provide substantial drought mitigation in the central and southern parts of the plain.

Heavy showers and locally heavy thunderstorms gradually move south to east, producing a total of 2-6 inches of rainfall for five days, from the central and southeastern plains to the southern Appalachian Mountains.

Rain also returns over the corn belt, but in most areas it falls less than 2 inches.

In contrast, dry weather continues on weekends from California to the southern Rocky Mountains.

Relief in southern Highplanes is short-lived as the three-digit heat (higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit) returns on weekends.
