Fani Kayode dumps APC’s PDP as the ruling party leaves the party

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode officially joins the ruling Overall Progress Council (APC), after years of criticizing the same party.

Fani Kayode announced his decision to join the APC after meeting with President Muhammad Buhari at the Capitol in Abuja on Thursday.

The decision of the former aviation minister to join the APC has put an end to months of speculation about his relationship with the ruling party.

Fani-Kayode was presented to President Buhari by the party’s caretaker chairman, Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe.

The former minister claimed that he was sacredly instructed to abandon APC’s main opposition to promote national unity.

Fani Kayode said he played an important role in the departure of the three PDP governors from the opposition to the APC and invited other PDP governors to the ruling party.

Recall that in recent months, several PDP chiefs and leaders have been exiled to APC, which is currently in a state of leadership crisis.

Ebony Governor Dave Umahi was the first PDP Governor to leave the APC, followed by Cross River Governor Ben Ayade in May.

Ayade said his decision to join the APC was based on the interests of his people.

Similarly, Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle has become the third governor from PDP to APC within the last two years.

The former minister has been one of the most critical voices of the Buhari administration since its inauguration in 2015.
