It’s been exactly a month since the collaborative RTS game Dwarf Heim started early access to Steam. The developers have released a second major content update. This new patch provides regular tweaks and bug fixes, but also adds matchmaking ranked for competitive play.
This is an early stage of the concept, so besides getting the rank, the only other aspect of the mode is that you can unlock the profile customization and “show off your rank and skill”. Other patch additions include a button that allows you to queue multiple modes at the same time to reduce latency.
DwarfHeim is positioned as the beginning of a “new” generation of RTS games. There are three classes, each with its own role, but each is specially designed to rely on at least one of the other classes so that you can focus on your own part of the game. For example, a “warrior” acts more like a traditional RTS than moving a unit to fight, while a “minor” spends most of its time pretending to be playing Factorio.
Here is the complete list of new additions:
- Rank mode
- Leader board
- VFX: Resource Providing, Nubbs Drills, Transmuters and Crushers, Auras
- Match start volume slider
- Updated Healing VFX
- Change the Underworld Circle to a new rune
- New Rune Buff Rune of Efficiency (10% increase in yield)

Dwarf Heim is currently 20% off on Steam until December 1st as part of the fall sale event.
