Farmers in eastern Iowa have a better harvest than last year

Farmers in eastern Iowa say the harvest is off to a good start, especially compared to a year ago.

“The Harvest 2021 was great compared to last year’s Harvest 2020 with Derecho.”

Binton’s Lance Lillibridge told the Brownfield that he had harvested hundreds of acres of soybeans and hundreds of acres of corn.

“The yields so far have been a pleasant surprise, probably less than what we wanted to see. But we have much less expectations and they are doing well.”

He says expectations were held back by lack of water during the growing season and heavy pressure from corn rootworms.

Lillibridge is President of the Iowacorn Growers Association.
