Film festivals are free, online, and over time

From time travel stories to captivating animated adventures, the Japan Film Festival will be held from December 4th to 13th at the JFF Plus: Online Festival. This is a free streaming event featuring a carefully selected program of Japanese films over the years. The 2020 Festival will screen more than 25 films, including features, documentaries, stop-motion and animated shorts, for free online enjoyment for Australian and New Zealand viewers.

“From iconic past JFF favorites to incredible new discoveries, JFF Plus presents a rich cross-section of Japanese cinema that viewers can enjoy from the comfort of their home,” Japan said. Said Susan Buoy, a film festival programmer.

Japanese culture lovers are looking forward to JFF’s favorites such as: RailroadA heartwarming movie about a sadly overwhelmed man who found comfort in his childhood dream of becoming a train conductor.Nostalgic drama The story of Seinosuke Yokomichi, Interweaving two timelines to portray a rich portrait of a man’s life story from college in 1987 to the present.And Lady MycoA musical comedy that explores the desire to become a girl’s maiko (apprentice geisha), interweaving elements of Broadway and geisha culture.

The program also includes nine animated shorts by two powerful creators, the legendary studio Production IG and the award-winning stop-motion animator Takeshi Yatsushiro.
