FINAL FANTASY IX is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch

update [Tue 3rd Nov, 2020 00:55 GMT]: Square Enix has confirmed the release date of the physical version of FINAL FANTASY IX With Nintendo Switch. This version will arrive on November 27th, later this month. You can pre-order now from Play-Asia. The official updates from Square Enix’s Facebook page (via Nintendo Soup) are:

The release date of FINAL FANTASY IX Physical Edition has been confirmed! Experience the adventure again with high-resolution characters, pre-rendered movies, and a new booster system with different modes to choose from, such as “fast” and “no encounters.” Release date: November 27, 2020.Supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish

Original work [Tue 20th Oct, 2020 03:30 BST]: Square Enix FINAL FANTASY IX The Nintendo Switch will be available in Asia this winter.

According to Playasia’s list, this version works on all systems sold worldwide and includes support for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Advance reservation has started. In addition to this, take a look at the stylish box art of the game.

This follows Square Enix’s announcement last week. FINAL FANTASY VII / VIII Remaster Twin Pack To Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand on December 4th.

The Twin Pack was also originally dedicated to Asia, so it’s no surprise that the physical version of FINAL FANTASY IX will eventually be localized to these other regions as well. See the review for more information on switch FFIX.
