The man who brought Lewis Hamilton By participating in Formula 1, Max Verstappen was able to beat him at this year’s World Championships.
Former McLaren team principal Ron Dennis believes Red Bull outperforms Mercedes. He hopes Verstappen, who leads Hamilton by five points in the remaining eight races, will win the championship if he avoids a serious error.
“I have a lot of respect for Red Bull engineers. I think Honda has stabilized their engine performance very well,” Dennis told Sky. “That’s why I think it will be Verstappen.
“If not, it’s not because they lack performance, but because they’re making mistakes. And the question is, under what circumstances these mistakes are made. Very colorful. It will be the end of the season, but I will probably return to Verstappen.
“That’s not why I don’t support Lewis. Of course, he’s still a friend. I still communicate with him from time to time.”
Hamilton and Verstappen have collided twice in the last two months. After a recent clash at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza two weeks ago, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff suggested that Verstappen had committed a “tactical foul.”
Dennis believes the incident is the result of both drivers not wanting to give up the ground to each other.
“In many sports, you can call it a kind of professional foul,” he said. “In motorsport, it’s hard to predict what happens when cars come into contact with each other. Like the Italian Grand Prix, you don’t know if one car will ride the other, you don’t know if it will spin off, hit the armco. [barrier] Such.
“But in reality, these two drivers aren’t the only drivers I can say about this in F1. These two drivers are completely professional. They know what they’re doing. I know and know that it’s important to lead early in the race, and that’s when they really take risks.
“Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t, and one of the things that both of them don’t want to show the other is that they’re going back and they’re threatened. So it’s a young couple – not so young – but a young stag couple [fighting].. It’s as easy as that. “
