Frankie Edgar announces resolution statement following UFC Vegas 18 defeat

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar may have been knocked out in 28 seconds on Saturday, but his determination to continue fighting remains.

“I licked the wound long enough. I’m at home with my family. Life is great. Saturday, I was ready for the fight. Cory Sandhagen’s prop, he’s at the perfect time I landed the bomb that was executed, “Edgar wrote on Instagram.

“Fortunately, I don’t remember that much. This game could be a cruel bitch and that was it on Saturday night, but I’m not in a hurry. I wasn’t in a hurry before. I was here … to my fans who always ride with me, I thank you all, and you make this fun for me. See you again until next time! “

Edgar, 39, continues to be one of the UFC’s top fighters. He left lightweight long ago. He fought several times for a featherweight title, but recently focused on bantamweight and quickly joined the top 10 in the 135-pound class.

Edgar defeated Pedro Munhos in his bantamweight debut. It quickly put him in the middle of a championship conversation, but returned to his hopes of regaining the UFC title after losing to Sandhagen (second-ranked fighter in the category) on Saturday.

Despite the setbacks, Edgar doesn’t seem ready to look for another belt.
