Concord, NC – Adds another new team to the NASCAR Cup Series field for the 2022 season.

GMS Racing, which has made entries in both the NASCAR Camping World Track Series and the NASCAR RXfinity Series for most of the last decade, has announced that it will step up to the top level of NASCAR next season with Ty Dillon behind. No.94 Chevrolet wheel.

GMS has won over 50 races between Track, Xfinity and ARCA, winning two track series titles with Johnny Sauter and Sheldon Creed in 2016 and 2020, and succeeding in that race. I have no objection.

“First of all, I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity,” Dillon said. “Their dedication to sports has been unmatched throughout the start of the track series. How they lead the program with a passion for victory and do it right.

“Last year was pretty tough. I don’t know when the next race will be or when the next race will be my last. I’m sure there will be a good opportunity if I’m supposed to be in the sport. Man, I’m very happy with this opportunity. “

“We’re definitely excited,” added team president Mike Beam. “This has long been a long-awaited event for GMS, Morley Gallagher and me. The right time to do this is right. When it comes to cup racing, a lot has been involved in making this decision. For Ty. It wasn’t a difficult decision. [He’s] I’ve been out for a year and I know how hungry he is … I’m very fortunate to have someone like Ty’s talent to build a cup program with this company.

Dillon has experience in all three levels of NASCAR National Series racing and has won both the Xfinity and Truck series. From 2017 to 2020, Dillon ran full-time in the Cup Series with Germain Racing, scoring several Top 5 and Top 10 finishes, but was on the sidelines when the team shut down at the end of the 2020 season. Became a person.

Throughout 2021, Dillon ran part-time in both the Cup and Xfinity series, driving four races at Gaunt Brothers Racing on the cup side and 11 races between Joe Gibbs Racing, Motorsport and Jordan Anderson Racing. At the start of these Xfinity, Dillon won one Top 5 finish and three Top 10 finishes in Charlotte, Atlanta and Las Vegas.

The drivers and team have been announced, but Beam said the team is working to lock down sponsors for the next season and secure a charter for 2022. He added the discussion he had about charter. The new team was one of the most challenging of his career.

Beam also said the team will take part in a two-day next-generation test scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval to get a good start next season with next-generation cars.
