Pierluigi Collina said he was excited about the “big chance” with Tottenham ahead of the official announcement scheduled for Friday.
The 26-year-old Atalanta goalkeeper took off on Thursday to sign a loan agreement with Tottenham. The purchase option is € 15 million (£ 12.8 million) and will replace Hugo Lloris.
Gorini has been Atalanta’s favorite shot stopper for the past three seasons, finishing third in a small Bergamo club three times in a row.
The Italians have previously spent time in England with Manchester United and Aston Villa and were pleased with the opportunity Spurs offered him.
“I’m very happy. Obviously, it was difficult to leave a place like a second home or family,” Gorini said.
“Thanks to Bergamo for feeling loved here. What we have done is in the history of the club, but this is a new experience.
“I am very pleased and grateful to Tottenham for giving me this great opportunity. Hugo Lloris is a World Cup winner, so it is an honor and an honor to be able to play with him.”
Gorini added that Tottenham was the “best offer” he received and that it would be difficult for clubs other than Atalanta to stay in Serie A.
