A green passport exempts Israelis from quarantine when returning abroad, and Cyprus has announced that tourists with negative vaccination evidence and a Covid-19 test can enter without quarantine.
After the first two weeks of the vaccination drive, the Ministry of Health reports that approximately 1,090,000 Israelis received the first Pfizer Covid-19 jab, which included nearly 50% of the country’s population over the age of 60.
The Israeli Ministry of Health plans to give all vaccinated people the right to receive a green passport three weeks after the first vaccination after the second vaccination. This document will be available a week after receiving your second vaccination and can be downloaded from the Ministry of Health app or printed from our website.
A green passport exempts the owner from needing to be quarantined when returning abroad or after contacting a person diagnosed as Covid-19 positive. You are also exempt from taking the Covid-19 Survey Test and taking the test when you enter a country or other place where testing is required. The green passport provides similar rights to 382,000 Israelis who are eligible to receive Ministry of Health documents recovered from Covid-19.
What is unclear is the degree of international approval of Israeli green passports by countries that allow vaccinated Israelis to enter without quarantine. Cyprus, for example, has already announced in March that tourists can enter the country without quarantine if they can show evidence that they have been vaccinated with a negative Covid-19 test. Cyprus, which was hit hard by the absence of tourists, was the first European country to make such a move.
