Israel’s budget deficit reached 174 billion NIS in the 12 months to the end of February 2021.
Israel’s budget deficit has grown to 12.4% of GDP, or 174 billion NIS, in the 12 months to the end of February 2021, the Treasury reports. This figure was 12.1% at the end of January, up from NIS 166.4 billion and up from 11.7% at the end of December. The budget deficit in February itself was 10.9 billion NIS, but it was 3.3 billion NIS in February 2020, just before the Covid-19 crisis.
Government spending in February 2021 was 38.8 billion NIS, including 6.9 billion NIS in fiscal support measures, while government revenue in February 2021 totaled 27.9 billion NIS.
Government revenues in January and February 2021 totaled 62.4 billion NIS, an increase of 6.2% from the first two months of 2020.
