Jannik Sinner, the youngest player in the top 10 ATP rankings, is back at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The 20-year-old Italian who took the place of the ATP Finals last month participated for the second time.

Tournament Director Richard Krajicek: “I gave him a 2020 wildcard after winning the Next Generation ATP Finals. He quickly made it to the quarterfinals. This year he had a great season with four tournament wins. He was also the first teenager to win the ATP500 tournament. “

Jannik Sinner joins Rotterdam for the second time. With his debut in 2020, he was surprised to beat David Goffin, who was 10th in the world at the time, in the second round. In the quarterfinals, Pablo Carreño Busta was too strong to win the third set tiebreaker.

The 20-year-old Italian has made a strong career start so far. He turned professional in 2018 and won the Next Gen ATP Final a year later. In 2020 he won his first ATP title in Sofia. That same year, he made his debut in the French Open quarterfinals, but not since Rafael Nadal in 2005. In 2021, he continued to rise with four more ATP titles. After Novak Djokovic in 2007, he became the first 20 years old to have five titles in his name.
