John Duddy Fight of the Year – 2020 Irish Boxing Awards – Irish Boxing – Boxing Sports

Nothing beats scrap, and this year there were many wars involving Irish boxers.

Boxing has brought only a handful of thrilling moments this year, although we didn’t have many opportunities to leave in 2020.

Below are the top four battles in the last 12 months.

The award is named after the Delhi-class destroyer John Daddy, who was involved in many wars and the Fight of the Year during his career.

Dollarg Foley v Thai Telford
The pair, described by Jeff Fenech as a “10-year battle,” went into war and stole the show at the undercard of the Tszyu-Morgan stadium.

JP Hale v Corum Murphy
The pair broke through the night of the Ulster Senior Final at their third senior meeting. As usual, it was a war, and Hale split it up and obscured it.

Tyrone Makena v Mohamed Mimone
Some have argued about the consequences, but no one can argue that the semi-finals of this Golden Contract were not a thrilling war.

Katie Taylor v Delfine Persoon 2
This year’s biggest fight in Irish boxing was another war on Sky Sports PPV, but this time it had a more decisive ending.
