Jon Jones has not received any form of sanctions from the UFC since his arrest for domestic violence three weeks ago. But his home gym at Jackson Wink MMA is taking action.
Jones’ longtime coach Mike Winkel John continued MMA hour On Wednesday, one of his most valuable fighters was revealed to be banned “at this time” from the famous Albuquerque training facility.
I just had a conversation with him, I said, “John, this is a deal, guy. You’re like my brother. Stop drinking for a while until you can get back to the gym. The problem needs to be resolved.
So now he’s out of the gym. He is not allowed to come to the gym. Because … I feel I had to do it because it’s crazy to ignore it and expect different results as they say. There are many Jesus around him who do not tell the truth.
He may hate me, but I had to tell him the truth. But in my heart … well, the man has great abilities. And I’m not just talking about fighting. In my heart, I hope he will come back, win the heavyweight title, stop drinking and move forward. He keeps going bigger.
Oh my goodness, he’s talented … he’s very charismatic, very smart, he can sit, break the fight, and break many things in life. He can do much bigger than this MMA world.
Winkel John, as the daughter’s own father, remained particularly “extremely disappointed” when she learned that Jones’ daughter was involved in the incident.
The hardest part was when I heard that my daughter had to call a police officer. It’s just tough for my position, it … I have three daughters. I have a wife, three daughters, a mom … I teach women self-defense. If he keeps getting in trouble, it just gets harder.
Jones was charged with domestic misdemeanor and a felony that caused damage to a police car. He will appear in court on October 26th.
