If you can believe the list of retailers these days, it looks like a next-generation upgrade for the acclaimed The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 4, is underway.
Best Buy says “The next generation upgrade is included” above the box art in the PlayStation 4 title list. It’s unclear if this is an error or some kind of legitimate confirmation, as perusing the list of keywords such as “next generation” and “PlayStation 5” doesn’t give any results. Naughty Dog has not announced whether a PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II will be available.
In the meantime, The Last of Us Part II can be played on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility. According to VG247, the post-apocalyptic action-adventure game takes advantage of DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, as well as the regular slate of next-generation extensions. This includes faster load times, smoother frame rates, and sharper visuals.
In other The Last of Us Part II news, developer Naughty Dog is working on a multiplayer experience. Instead of incorporating Factions into the game like The Last Of Us, Naughty Dog has expanded its multiplayer range to a standalone game mode.
The Last of Us Part II leads the game awards list with 10 nominations, followed immediately by Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions and Hades from Supergiant Games. The game is also currently available at retail stores such as Amazon and Best Buy for Black Friday for $ 30.
